Celery Wolf Vinyl Lathe Cuts

At Celery Wolf, we use a vintage Mono Presto 1D head from a 1950s radio station to hand-cut each record. Unlike pressed records, which are mass-produced from molds, we emboss your audio in real time directly onto softer plastic blanks using a sapphire stylus. This process gives your records a unique, DIY feel—each one is crafted individually, with its own character.

Pressed vs. Lathe Cut: Pressed records are made by pressing grooves into vinyl using a metal stamper. This method creates that classic, loud sound with a rich low-end. Our lathe cuts, on the other hand, use an embossing process to create grooves, resulting in a sound that’s a bit quieter with a slightly more "FM radio" feel—perfect for quirky, lo-fi, or intimate recordings.

We offer a full-color 7" foldover jacket printed on photo paper, complete with a white or black inner paper sleeve, full-color center labels for the record, and an outer plastic protective sleeve. Each side of your record can hold up to 4:30 minutes of audio. Want the full package? It’s $15 per record. If you only need the audio, we’ll cut it for $11.

For these lathe cuts, we use high-quality blanks and a sapphire embossing cone to give you the best possible sound from this hand-crafted process.

The blanks are made from a softer plastic, which is perfect for the embossing process used in lathe cuts. These blanks are available in several color options to give your records a unique look. Here's a quick rundown:

Clear: A clean, transparent look that adds a sleek, minimalist aesthetic.

Opaque White: A bright, solid white finish, perfect for a bold, classic look.

Opaque Black: Classic and timeless, giving that authentic vinyl feel.

Smoke Grey: A subtle, translucent grey for a modern and mysterious touch.

These color options let you personalize your records even further, whether you’re going for a vintage aesthetic or something more colorful and modern.
